Minister for Natural Resources Yuri Trutnev hosted a council in Khanty-Mansiysk and gave THK-BP a month to prepare a plan for pipeline replacement, Gazeta.ru reports.
Failing to develop the plan on time would be followed by state punishments. The minister reminded about his visit to polluted area of Samotlor and Krasnoleninsky fields. He said that the term “accident” loses point, because there are 750 accidents there every year.
THK-BP Vice President Yelena Kompasenko agreed with the minister. However, she said that information on pollution is false and the local territory was polluted before extraction started.
Kompasenko reminded that THK-BP is one of the few companies presenting reports on sustainable development. The company spent $37 million on prevention of pollution. Its operation meets all international standards.
