Construction of a Radisson hotel has begun in the village of Tsinandali of Telavi region. President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili and government officials attended the ceremony, Trend reports.
Saakashvili noted that when he became President there were no in fact hotels in Kakheti, but today it is one of the developing regions in terms of tourism. He also stressed the importance of development of local construction companies.
"Local companies that have already joined international market emerged in Georgia. An example of this is Silk Road Group. Also a small local company appeared in Batumi, which began to build small three-storey buildings and is now building 40-50-story skyscrapers, and is already working across Georgia. The same applies to Tbilisi," said the president.
He praised the Silk Road Group company, which also built the Radisson hotel in Batumi. He said that experts recognized the Batumi Radisson as the best Radisson.
"It happened because they were building with love. It was not a foreigner who was building one of his five hundred branches, bit it was Georgian people who were building it for themselves, their families and future generations," the president said.
Four-story Radisson in Tsinandali will have 100 rooms. A 15-meter long underground corridor connecting the hotel with a winery will be built. There will also be an outdoor terrace, rooms with exclusive interior, and its own parking lot. A swimming pool will be on the roof.
