Iran starts building new pipeline connecting with Iraq

The Director General of the Iranian engineering company on development of the gas sector, Ali Reza Gharibi, said that Iran will initiate the construction of a pipeline to supply Iranian gas to Iraq. The volume of investments in the project amounts to 450 million dollars, Iran News reports.

The pipeline, designed to supply gas to Iraq, will be an offshoot of the 6th transnational gas pipeline. The length of the new pipeline will be about 220 km in length while the pipe will be 48 inches in diameter.

The pipeline construction will begin immediately after the signing of a new gas contract between Iran and Iraq.
