Georgia is trying to attract investors to the free industrial zones by offering tax relief, such as freeing enterprises in the zones from paying income tax, Business Georgia reports.
According to the current law, taxes were lifted only for international enterprises. Earlier laws allowed industrial zones to sell their products on the local market.
Administrators of the free industrial zone in Kutaisi expect a boost for small and medium-scale enterprises after lifting the income tax.
