A senior Iranian official says the Islamic Republic is trying to promote electronic commerce and business among the West Asian countries, with Tehran assuming a central role, Press TV reports.
“Over the past three years, Iran has managed, by procuring the electronic commerce infrastructure, to be a pioneer in this field among the West Asian countries,” Mohammad Sadeq Mofatteh, the Iranian deputy minister of industry, mines and trade said on Tuesday.
He went on to say that electronic business has a history of less than 20 years, but that East Asian countries such as China, Japan, Taiwan and South Korea have had considerable progress in the field during the past decade, unlike West Asian nations that have not paid enough attention to the issue.
