Nabucco presents new gas pipeline concept

The consortium of the Nabucco gas pipeline project has presented the Nabucco-West concept to the Shah Deniz consortium of Azerbaijan, Trend reports.

The concept provides construction of a gas pipeline from the Turkish-Bulgarian border to Baumgarten (Austria). Reinhard Mitchek, head of the Nabucco Gas Pipeline International GmbH, expressed confidence in the success of the project.

The Nabucco-West idea is to build a 1300-km long pipeline, which may further be extended.

The Nabucco Gas Pipeline will transport gas from the Caspian Sea and the Middle East to EU states, it is part of the Southern Gas Corridor. Gas will be provided within the framework of the second stage of Shah Deniz development (about 10 billion cubic meters annually).

OMV (Austria), FGSZ (Hungary), a Bulgarian energy holding, Transgaz (Romania), Botas (Turkey) and RWE (Germany) are shareholders of the project.
