Bulgaria ratifies Nabucco agreement

Bulgaria has ratified the Nabucco deal, Trend reports.

Bulgaria named Nabucco a national priority in April 2012 in a move to speed up the process of its realization. The pipeline will diversify its energy sources and reduce dependence on Russian gas.

The Nabucco Gas Pipeline will transport gas from the Caspian Sea and the Middle East to EU states as part of the Southern Gas Corridor. Gas will be extracted from the Shah Deniz field within the framework of the second stage of its development (10 billion cubic meters annually). OMV (Austria), FGSZ (Hungary), Bulgargaz (Bulgaria), Transgaz (Romania), Botas (Turkey) and RWE (Germany) are shares of the project. MOL (Hungary), the 100% owner of FGSZ, offers to sell its share in the Nabucco project.
