Initial Nabucco project scrapped by BP

The initial plan of the Nabucco gas pipeline project is no longer considered a possible route for export of Azerbaijani gas, head of the BP Department for Refining and Marketing Ian Kon said, Trend reports.

The only routes from Shah Deniz to South-Eastern Europe are the Nabucco West version, a shortened version of the Nabucco project, and the SEEP (South-East European Pipeline).

Nabucco West will transport gas from the Turkish-Bulgarian border to Baumgarten (Austria).

SEEP proposed by BP, operator of the Shah Deniz Field in Azerbaijan, will transport 10 billion cubic meters of gas using pipelines in Bulgaria, Romania, Gungary, Serbia and Croatia.

OMV (Austria), FGSZ (Hungary), Bulgargaz (Bulgaria), Transgaz (Romania), Botas (Turkey) and RWE (Germany) are shares of the project. MOL, 100% owner of FGSZ, announced sales of its share of Nabucco.
