Nabucco project may be scrapped in June

The Nabucco project proposed by the European Commission to transport gas from the Caspian Sea and Middle Asia to the eastern borders of the European Union bypassing Russia may be scrapped by June, ITAR-TASS reports.

In autumn 2002, heads of Hungarian and Bulgarian energy companies wanted the Nabucco pipeline to launch in 2014. The pipeline was planned to be 3,300 km long to transport gas from Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan.

Doubts about economic profit from the project occurred at the very start. The European Commission and European Parliament approved it.
