The State Oil Company of the Azerbaijani Republic (SOCAR) wants to stick to the original Nabucco project, SOCAR Vice President Elshad Nasirov said, 1news.az reports.
Nasirov noted that SOCAR informed BP about disagreement with the new project. Nabucco has chances, because the Trans-Anatoly Pipeline (TANAP) is still only a concept.
The Shah Deniz Consortium said in February 2012 that the ITGI (Interconnector Turkey-Greece-Italy) is no longer considered a project for gas deliveries to Europe. ITGI, TAP, Nabucco and the South Eastern European Project (SEEP) are the 4 versions proposed by the Shah Deniz Consortium. ITGI and TAP were to export gas to Italy.
ITGI has been scrapped, TAP is still under consideration. Nabucco and SEEP will export of gas to Eastern Europe. One of the two projects will then compete with TAP.
