Azerbaijan stops gas supplies to Turkey

Gas supply to Turkey through the Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum Pipeline from Azerbaijan have been stopped after an explosion last night, Trend cites Botas.

Botas has been working at the blast-hit section of the pipeline, which may be the result of the explosion. Restoration may take 3-7 days.

Azerbaijan provides Turkey with 6.6 billion cubic meters of gas annually from the Shah Deniz Field using the pipeline. About 12 million cubic meters of gas are pumped through the pipeline daily. Turkey reported that a blast had occurd at an oil pipeline in the Kars Province.

Vestnik Kavkaza reported earlier that BP had assured that no problems with oil export through the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan Pipeline had been encountered.
