Georgia expands cooperation with Germany

 

 

Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili met German Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development Dirk Nibel on June 1, News Georgia reports.

The sides met at Saakashvili’s residence in Tbilisi to discuss prospects of further economic cooperation.

The German minister noted successful economic projects realized in Georgia with the support of Germany. He says that Georgia is of interest to German businessmen. Germany wants to realize joint projects in energy and municipal projects in Tbilisi and Batumi.

Nibel arrived in Georgia on May 30, heading a delegation of German companies and economic associations. He will leave Georgia on June 2.

Vestnik Kavkaza reported earlier that the two states signed a deal. Germany is providing a grant worth €5,2 million and a loan worth €52 million to Georgia.
