Deputies of the Stavropol Territory Duma in Essentuki discussed the condition and prospects for the development of the Caucasian Mineral Waters (CMW) resorts, Yuga.ru cites the press service of the Territory's resorts and tourism ministry. The session saw the participation of the committee on the environment, ecology and tourist-resort activity.
Resorts and tourism minister Valentina Chentsova noted that Sanitoria and resorts are the way forward for the CMW region and that stability and successful work depend on their existence. Investment in the region had grown 60% in 2011 compared to 2010, amounting to18.5 billion rubles. The hotel-sanatorium complex had added 672 rooms to its number, with 9 modern hotels put into operation.
Another 18 sanatoria-resort facilities are due to be built in the CMW region. 40 resort and tourist facilities are being built at present. The number of sanatoria-resorts is expected to rise to 2900 in the next few years, creating another 3000 jobs.
