The Azerbaijani Minister of Agriculture, Ismet Abasov met today with
representatives of the European Parliament and of the German Bundestag
to talk about the potential of Azerbaijani agriculture, Trend reports.
The main purpose of the meeting was to introduce the possibilities of the country's
agriculture and inform about the situation with refugees
and internally-displaced persons.
As a result of the creation of new production and processing
enterprises in the framework of the diversification of the economy
from 2004 to 2011, more than a million new jobs were created in the
country, including 265,000 in the field of agriculture.
"Since Azerbaijan is not a member of the World Trade Organization
(WTO) there are many obstacles for Azerbaijani products to enter the
European markets and, hopefully, when we become a full member of the
WTO, Azerbaijani products will enter the European market in large
quantities," Abasov said.
