Heads of Customs Services of Customs Union member-states adopt important decisions


Heads of the customs authorities of Russia, Kazakhstan and Belarus
considered and adopted decisions on several important issues today at
the fourth meeting of the Joint Board of the Customs Services of the
Member States of the Customs Union in Taganrog, Kazinform reports.
The Customs Services of the Member States of the Customs Union reaffirmed
their readiness for the introduction of mandatory preliminary
information about goods imported to the customs territory of the
Customs Union from June 17, 2012. This measure is aimed at
accelerating and simplifying the customs clearance process and will
contribute to creating favourable conditions for foreign trade.

Participants in the meeting also discussed transport control, as well
as sanitary checks at the border. Currently, the customs authorities
of the Republic of Kazakhstan are entitled to perform these functions
at checkpoints across the customs border of the Customs Union.
