Belarus and Kazakhstan to keep high import fees after Russia joins WTO

Belarus and Kazakhstan may keep high import fees Russia will lower when entering the WTO, as stated by Andrey Slepnev, Minister for Trade and board member of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC), RIA Novosti reports.

Keeping the old fees requires filing a request for temporary fees for 1.5 years. Three states will approve the request.

A trilateral working group will meet this week and the committee for EEC foreign trade will meet next week to discuss common customs fees. The document will be passed in early July. The average fee will be lowered from 10% to 7.5-7.8%. The increase of import fees will be discussed by partners of the Customs Union.
