Iran's Oil Ministry will carry out one of the country's biggest environmental projects by collecting 99 per cent of associated gases produced from oil fields, Trend reports.
The project is scheduled to be finished by the end of Iran's Fifth Five-Year Socio Economic Development Plan (2011-2015), Mohammad Hassan Ardeshiri told Shana news.
Director of Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) at Iran's Oil Ministry, Mr. Ardeshiri, said his department has worked with Japan and signed two contracts for reducing and gathering greenhouse gases. Earlier, Mehr News Agency reported that about 40 mcm of associated gas is burnt on flares.
