Georgian and Armenian stock markets may unite with Nasdaq OMX assistance

The Director General of the Georgian Central Depository, Gayoz Sanadze, has proposed uniting the stock markets of Armenia and Georgia, Business Georgia reports.

Nasdaq OMX organizes common trading platforms in various states with single trading rules, accounts and information. A joint market of Armenia and Georgia may attract investors.

Dilijan held the first forum of financial markets initiated by NASDAQ OMX Armenia. Regulators of markets, stock markets, central depositories, banks of Armenia and Georgia and international organizations were invited.

OMX Group (Scandinavia) bought 100% of shares of the Armenian Stock Marker and the Central Depository of Armenia in January 2009. NASDAQ and OMX united in March 2008, forming the NASDAQ OMX Group Inc.
