The Iranian parliamentary committee for industry and mines has approved use of nuclear fuel by ships travelling long distance, a parliamentary reporter for national security and foreign policy Hossein Hagavi-Hossein said, SalamNews reports.
Ruhullah Abaspur, a reporter of the parliamentary committee for industry and mines, said that anti-Iranian sanctions force the country to use different fuel to avoid having to refuel. Iran will need uranium enriched higher than 20% for realization of the plan.
Rear Admiral Abbas Zemini, Commander of the Iranian Naval Forces, said on June 12 that Iran was planning development and production of nuclear submarines.
