Iran and Turkmenistan ready to increase trade turnover to $10 billion

Iran and Turkmenistan stated that they are eager to develop trade and boost turnover, which is now $5 billion annually, Trend reports citing IRNA News.

The Foreign Minister of Iran, Ali Akbar Salehi, met his Turkmen colleague, Rashid Meredov, in Tehran on Monday at the twelfth joint session of economic committees. Salehi expressed satisfaction with the good relations between Iran and Turkmenistan and stated that the countries planed to increase volumes of bilateral trade to $10 billion.

Meredov added that “two countries have similar positions on key international issues, including promotion of peace, stability, and development in the world.”

Iran was the main trade partner of Turkmenistan in 2010.
