BP has confirmed that Turkmenistan has the fourth-largest gas reserves in the world, BP Vice President and Chief Economist Christof Ruehl said, Trend reports.
The Turkmen Ministry for Petroleum Industry and Mineral Resources presented information on energy development in 2011. Gaffney, Cline & Associates said that the Galkynysh field has 26 trillion cubic meters of gas reserves.
China has the highest gas consumption. It uses pipelines through Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan, launched in 2009.
Turkmenistan has 24.3 trillion cubic meters of gas reserves, according to BP reports in 2011, compared with 13.4 trillion cubic meters estimated in 2010.
