The Georgian government is forming a fund of about $30.6 million for the restoration of Kakhetia (Eastern Georgia) following its destruction from a hurricane, Finances Minister Dmitry Gvindadze said on Monday, News Georgia reports.
Financing of the Kakhetia development program will increase to $67.5 million, $12.5 million of the sum will be spent on districts suffering from the disaster.
The finances minister added that financing of Kakhetia municipalities will increase by about $1.2 million.
The reserve fund will issue about $10.5 million to clear the damage.
Kakhetia had about 80-100% of harvest on 11,000 hectares of land destroyed by heavy rain and hail last week. Over 500 houses had their roofs blown off. The region is being restored, food has been provided.
