MTS, the leading TV communication operator of Russia and the CIS, has returned to Turkmenistan, Trend reports.
MTS and Turkmentelecom have signed a deal, forming MTS-Turkmenistan, a 100% subsidiary of MTS approved by Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. The deal was signed for 5 years and may be extended by 5 more.
MTS-Turkmenistan will pay Turkmentelecom 30% of net profit. It will provide GSM and 3G services for 3 years. It will also service state communication enterprises. The company will have over 2.4 million clients.
MTS President Andrey Dubovsky expressed hope for mutually beneficial cooperation.
MTS and its 100% subsidiary BCTI, Turkmenistan, Turkmen Ministry for Communications, Turkmentelecom and Altyn Asyr settled their disputes on July 25, 2012. MTS stopped its activities in Turkmenistan in December 2010.
