Iran is in an economic trap, and it is important that Iranians are aware of it, the leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, said at a meeting with scholars, Trend reports, citing the official website of Khamenei.
"We cannot rely solely on our oil – it is dangerous for Iran. It will not lead the country to prosperity and progress. It is a trap for us and our people," Khamenei said.
He noted that the "oil addiction" has been going on for several years, and it should end.
"The country has reached a level when all the national oil wells can be shut down immediately, with no significant damage," Khamenei added.
Khamenei supported the "economics of resistance" policy conducted by the government. A meeting dedicated to this issue was held on June 25 between the Iranian parliament, presidential representatives and members of the judicial system.
