Auditors demand Sochi Olympic construction to speed up

Alexander Puskinov, an auditor of the Chamber of Accounts, has sent a letter to Russian Vice Premier Dmitry Kozak warning him about the low construction pace of the central stadium, RBC reports.

Director General of Channel One Alexander Ernst demanded an inspection of Sochi construction. Inspectors said after their studies that responsibilities were distributed inefficiently, causing many disputes. Orders of Olimpstroy are not fulfilled, they say.

The central stadium of Sochi should be completed before August 2013. Over 15 billion rubles have been issued for its construction, although the initial price was 11 billion.

Sochi will host the Winter Olympic Games on February 7-23, 2014. It will be the first such high-scale sports event in modern Russia.
