Shah Deniz and TAP sign financing deal

The Trans-Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) and partners developing the Shah Deniz Field have signed a deal to finance the project until the route for exports of Azerbaijani gas to Europe is chosen, 1news.az reports.

Partners developing Shah Deniz will get up to 50% of shares in the TAP project to transport gas from the Caspian and the Middle East to Western Europe. The pipeline will run through Greece, Albania, the Adriatic Sea and Italy, covering 520 km. The project was developed by EGL (Switzerland), Statoil (Norway) and E.ON Ruhrgas (Germany). The gas pipeline will have a capacity of 10 billion cubic meters. It may further increase to 20 billion.
