Iran plans to modernize its fourth-generation nuclear power plants, spokesman of the Iranian parliamentary energy commission Jalil Jafari said, Trend reports.
Jafari noted that light-water reactor of the second generation are only 30-35% efficient. Fourth-generation reactors will have an efficiency of 45%.
The official added that uranium-enrichment to 20% will free Iranian ships from refueling for 5 years. Enrichment to 50-60% will make it 20-25 years. He believes that 20% enrichment is enough.
