Pyatigorsk administration (Stavropol Territory) is trying to change the borders of the federal resort to sell land or lease it out, Interfax reports.
The chairman of the Arbitration Court of Stavropol Territory, Alexander Kichko, said that the borders were set according to ecological principles in the 1980s. It took 10 years to establish the borders.
The city administration says that the borders do not coincide on some maps, mainly the water reservoir.
Kichko says that the administration is trying to use sanitary territories of the land for commercial purposes by adjusting the borders. The land is currently used for treatment and recreation. Changing the borders may provoke more such cases.
The initiative to change the border was filed to the arbitration court on February 6 and the process started the following day.
