Onshore oil field in Iran to be developed by "maritime" company

The Iranian National Oil Company and the Iranian engineering company

for the construction of offshore structures have signed a contract to

develop the Ervend oil field, Iran News reports.

The General Director of the Iranian National Oil Company, Ahmad Kalebani,

said during the signing ceremony that the Iranian engineering company

on construction of offshore structures provides 70% of the

country's needs in offshore drilling rigs and platforms and their

service, and now it will develop a land  oil deposit for the first time.

Ahmed Kaledani reminded that the Ervend field is located at the mouth of

the river Ervend, 50 km south of Abadan, and although the oil reserves in

the field are small, it is considered to be one of the most important

fields.

The signed contract is estimated to be worth $135 million. The field will

produce up to five thousand barrels of oil per day.
