SGS to monitor Russian-Georgian trade turnover

SGS (Switzerland) will start monitoring Russian-Georgian trade turnover as a mediator on September 1, due to Russia’s joining the WTO, Georgian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergi Kapanadze said, Interfax reports.

Georgia and Russia signed the deal on customs administration and monitoring of trade turnover and a memorandum of understanding in Geneva on December 2011. Switzerland was a mediator at the talks.

Monitoring will be organized from River Psou to River Inguri, from the Roki Tunnel to the South Ossetian border and the Verkhny Lars- Kazbegi control post. All products passing the border will have EDES code.

Russia joined the WTO on August 22, 2012.
