Dagestani wine-makers focus on cognac production

 

Dagestan has reduced champagne production to 29.8% of all alcohol products, compared with 47.5% last year, RIA Dagestan reports.

The Derbentsky wine factory reduced production by 33% in 6 months. Specialists say that it is because more factories use cheap materials for production of champagne.

Vodka production in the first 6 months this year totaled 5.6% (700,000 dL), cognac 60% (2.7 dL), champagne 29.8% (3.26 million dL), 38.6% (9.775 million dL).

Cognac production totaled 809,000 dL, dropping by 17% compared with 2011.
