Turkish energy imports expenditure to be increased

Turkey's expenditure on energy imports in 2012 will amount to $60 billion compared to $54 billion in 2011, Turkish Finance Minister Mehmet Simsek said, Trend cites the Aksam newspaper as saying on Wednesday.

He said Turkey is going to reduce the country's dependence on imported energy. For this, the country plans to expand projects to develop renewable energy sources.

Simsek also noted that the construction of the Ylysu Dam and Hydro-electric Plant will be completed by June 2014.
