Bushehr nuclear power plant starts working at full capacity

Today the Bushehr nuclear power plant in Iran started working at full capacity, the report
of NIAEP (the company managing the construction of the station) reads.

In the next one and a half or two months the plant will be
tested and then an act of provisional acceptance of the commission
will be signed. After that it will work at a rate determined by the
Iranian side.

The head of the nuclear power plant construction managing company
Atomstroyexport, Igor Mezenin, said that the Bushehr plant is a unique
object of which there are no analogues in the world of nuclear power
plant construction. Mezenin said that the construction plan of the
plant was developed by German experts. All in all, 12 tons of German
equipment has been used in the construction of the plant.

Commissioning of the plant is scheduled for the end of 2012 - beginning of 2013.

The construction of the nuclear power plant in Iran's Bushehr was started
in 1974 by the German concern Kraftwerk Union AG (Siemens / KWU). In
1980, the construction was halted after Germany joined
the U.S. embargo on the supply of equipment to Iran. On August 25,
1992, Russia and Iran signed an agreement on cooperation in peaceful
nuclear energy and in January 1995 they signed a contract to complete
the construction of the first power station of the plant.
