Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday urged Deputy Prime Minister
Dmitry Rogozin and the chief of Roscosmos, Dmitry Popovkin, to draft
proposals for restructuring the national space industry after a series
of failures. Putin said that the latter had compromised Russia’s image
as a leading space power, RIA-Novosti reports.
“I think the problem is the structure of the space industry…
reshuffles in the structure should be made, if necessary," RIA-Novosti
quotes Putin as saying.
Putin's comments are in line with Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev's
speech last week in which he urged the government to work out a plan
to improve Russia’s space industry.
