Tajikistan should not rush with the accession to the Customs Union of
Belarus, Russia and Kazakhstan, said at a press conference in Minsk,
Belarus, Ambassador of Tajikistan Kozidavlat Koimdodov.
According to Koimdodov, therequired legal framework can be created
in a relatively short period of time, but the appropriate economic
base is more difficult to create. The Ambassador noted that in the
case of entry into the Customs Union Tajikistan will lose $ 400-500
million
"And thies money must first be found", he said.
The diplomat also stressed the importance of the territorial issue.
Tajikistan does not have common land borders with the current
three-member nations. However, if in the coming years, the issue will
be resolved with the entry into the Customs Union of Kyrgyzstan, and
it will open great opportunities for connecting Tajikistan, as the
countries have a common border, said Tajik Ambassador.
