Turkish Minister for Energy and Natural Resources Taner Yildiz said that 13 Turkish companies requested imports of gas from Gazprom, Trend reports.
Akfel Gaz, BosphorusGaz, Kibar Holding and Index Holding signed deals on gas imports with Gazprom. The deal between Botas and Gazprom expires this month.
Turkey and EPDK developed a bill allowing private companies to import gas in June. The companies will store 10% of total gas imported in the Turkish Oil and Gas Corporation in Silivri.
Turkey imported 39.7 billion cubic meters of gas in 2011. Russia, Iran and Azerbaijan are the top gas suppliers of Turkey.
