Tbilisi implements new ticket system for public transport

 

The Tbilisi Mayor’s Office will launch a new system of payments for public transport on September 15, News Georgia reports.

All passengers will be able to use their Metromoney cards to pay for public transport. The first ticketcosts $0.3, allowing passengers to use the subway and buses for free in the following one and a half hour.

The new initiative was presented to the Tbilisi Mayor’s Office on September 7. It received 15,770 positive votes on the official website.

The first ticket for subway and bus transport costs $0.3, the second $0.18, the following tickets cost $0.12. Teachers and pensioners pay about $0.2 for tickets, socially unprotected people pay about $0.06.

Over a million people in Tbilisi use Metromoney cards.
