The construction of the "East-West" gas pipeline is gaining momentum,
the Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources of Turkmenistan said.
The construction of the pipeline to the west, 325 kilometers long, will
be completed by 2014.
The construction of the East-West gas pipeline which will be,
according to various estimates, from 800 to 1,000 kilometers long,
will allow all the remaining gas pipelines to be connected, both export and
domestic ones. The approximate cost of the pipeline is more than two
billion US dollars.
The pipeline is scheduled to be operational by mid-2015. The start to
the project was given on May 31, 2010.
