Azerbaijan will consider transit of Turkmen gas only after decisions on the Trans-Caspian Gas Pipeline construction, Azerbaijani Minister for Industry and Energy Natig Aliyev said, Trend reports on Tuesday.
The pipeline will run from the Turkmen coast of the Caspian Sea to the Azerbaijani to be connected with the Southern Gas Corridor. Turkmenistan has been negotiating its construction with the EU and other states since the 1990s.
The European Union approved negotiations on signing a deal with Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan in September 2011 to build the pipeline.
Azerbaijan, Turkey, Turkmenistan and the EU have discussed the topic in Ashkhabad this month.
