Realization of the Trans-Anatolia Gas Pipeline (TANAP) will allow Azerbaijan to reach the European border, Azerbaijani Minister for Industry and Energy Natig Aliyev said on Tuesday, Trend reports.
The project is essential for Azerbaijan and Turkey and will diversify gas supplies for Europe.
Azerbaijan exports gas to Turkey using the South Caucasus Gas Pipeline.
Azerbaijan and Turkey signed a deal on realization of TANAP on June 26. They signed a memorandum on pipeline construction from the Shah Deniz Field to Europe through Turkey in December 2011. 20% of TANAP shares belongs to BOTAS (Turkey) and 80% to SOCAR (Azerbaijan).
