Spokesman of the Russian Foreign Ministry Alexander Lukashevich said that nullifying the license of MTS caused impact on clients of Uzdunrobita in Uzbekistan, Vzglyad reports.
The Tashkent City Count sentenced four members of Uzdunrobita suspected of financial violations to 3 years of prison. The Uzbek Prosecutor General’s Office ordered arrest of property of Uzdunrobita, a subsidiary of MTS. The enterprise was inspected in spring.
The State Communication Inspection warned the subsidiary about cancelling the license. It was nullified on July 18 for 10 days and extended on July 30 by 3 months.
Uzdunrobita was suspected of causing economic damage totaling over $368 million. The sum reaches $588 million together with new claims.
Uzdunrobita was fined with over $80 million on August 8. Uzdunrobita plans to appeal the court’s cancelling the license and tax claims worth over $900 million in 10 days.
