The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) will provide financial support for the project "Promotion of gender equality in the financial sector of Azerbaijan", which will be implemented within the framework of the global initiative of the bank "Plan for Gender Equality."
1news.az reports that at the presentation of the project on September 20, the head of the EBRD in Baku, Neal McCain, told reporters that the project, which will be implemented by the Frankfurt School of Finance and Management in cooperation with the Azerbaijani Micro-finance Association (AMFA), is of great importance for the development of the business sector in Azerbaijan .
"Today a round table discussion was held on the problems of women entrepreneurs' access to financial resources and products and the position of women in the financial sector. It was attended by representatives of banks, non-banking credit organizations that are partners of the EBRD, the State Committee for Family, Women and Children, the State Statistics Committee, the Association of Women Entrepreneurs, the U.S. Embassy, USAid, OXFAM, etc., who can provide a real impetus to the development of women's entrepreneurship in the country, " McCain said.
The main components of the project are developing and holding seminars on gender equality, the definition of the main indicators of gender equity in financial institutions in Azerbaijan and promoting best practices in the field through specialist literature (brochures, etc.).
