Azerbaijan extracted the first gas portions from the Umid Field yesterday, President of the State Oil Company of the Azerbaijani Republic (SOCAR) Rovnag Abdullayev said, Turan reports.
The fueld allows extraction of 1 million cubic meters of gas and 200 tons of condensate daily. Extraction will increase with launch of new boreholes.
Abdullayev says that Umid has 200 billion cubic meters of gas reserves and 40 million tons of condensate.
SOCAR announced at the Caspian Oil & Gas-2012 Conference in Baku that Umid will fulfill Azerbaijani demands for gas and will not be used for exports.
