The State Oil Company of the Azerbaijani Republic (SOCAR) has launched its first petroleum station in Zurich. 160 former Esso petroleum stations will be launched in Switzerland before mid-2013, 1news.az reports.
SOCAR purchased petroleum stations of ExxonMobile in Switzerland for $330 million. The deal on purchase of Esso Schweiz GmbH branch was signed on November 16, 2011. SOCAR Energy Switzerland plans to continue commercial activities.
The company will operate under the Esso brand for 12 months.
The company will operate under the SOCAR brand in Q3 2012. Azerbaijan got 170 petroleum stations in Switzerland, including a gas factory in Wangen Olten, petroleum stations at Geneva and Zurich airports.
