The unit of the Caspian Fleet will provide security of economic activity of Russia within the implementation of tasks during patrolling, the head of the press-service of the South Military District, Igor Gorbul, told journalists, RIA Novosti reports. “On Tuesday a unit of the Caspian Fleet including the flagman Tatarstan and the sea tug MB-58 puts to the Caspian Sea,” Gorbul said.
According to him, the crews and sea-soldiers participating in the patrolling will “resist attacks” at oil-and-gas exploring platforms in the Caspian Sea and practice sea training during implementation of tactical tasks.
Gorbul noted that the union of ships will call at the Kazakhstan port Aktau and the Azerbaijani port Baku. “The ships will pass more than 1500 miles,” the officer concluded.
