The European Union is preparing a package of sanctions against Iran, banning the import of Iranian gas to the EU, RIA Novosti reports with reference to the Reuters news agency and diplomatic sources.
The embargo on gas supplies from Iran to EU will be made on October 15 at a meeting of EU foreign ministers in Luxembourg.
"There is an agreement on gas. It is supported by the leading nations - Germany, Britain, France," an official said.
Existing sanctions prohibit investing in Iran's gas industry, but do not talk about imports to the EU, which are in fact minor.
