Russian president to discuss grain market

Russian President Vladimir Putin will hold a meeting about the grain harvesting of 2012 on Wednesday, RIA Novosti reports.

Deputy Chairman of government Arkady Dvorkovich, Presidential Assistant Elvira Nabiullina, Minister for Economic Development Andrey Belousov, Minister for Finances Anton Siluanov, Minister for Agriculture Nikolai Fedorov and heads of related organizations will attend the meeting.

Governors Alexander Karlin (Altai Territory), Sergey Bozhenov (Volgograd Region), Valery Radayev (Saratov Region) will take part in a video conference to discuss grain prices, winter seeding and the improvement of agricultural efficiency in the light of WTO membership.

According to information from September 26, Russia collected grain at 35.7 million hectares (90.7% of total territory) out of 39.4 million. 66 million tons were collected with an average yield of 18.5 centner per hectare. 11.2 million hectares of winter crops were planted (66.3% of 16.8 million hectares planned).
