Iran produces 2-2.5 tons of gold annually, Deputy Minister for Industry, Mining and Trade Vajihollah Jafari said, Trend reports.
The country has 12 gold deposits exploited. Three of them are planned to be privatized before November 20.
Behruz Borna, Deputy Chief of the Organization for Geology and Exploration of Natural Resources of Iran, said that the country had 320 tons of gold deposits. Three new deposits with 16 tons of gold were discovered in April.
Iran produces 3% of world gold and has 68 types of natural resources. Iran has the world’s largest zinc reserves, second largest copper reserves and 9th largest iron reserves.
