Makhachkala comes third in the ranking of most comfortable cities in Russia

Today the Russian government defined the country's most comfortable cities and towns. Not surprisingly, first place was taken by the capital of Mordovia, Saransk. But there were so many applicants for second and third places that the "pedestal" was shared by several cities. Thus, Ulyanovsk and Tomsk got the "silver medal". Third place was shared between Belgorod, Barnaul and Makhachkala. The results of the national competition were announced today by Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev.

The Prime Minister stressed that in determining the most comfortable city not only the state and the work of housing services, but also public transport and the environment of the city were considered. "Obviously, there are no ideal locations. Even the winner has its problems. But it's still a trend. There are indicators that relate to the development of public-private partnerships, small business support and the introduction of modern technology," Medvedev said.

The Prime Minister emphasized that the creation of comfortable and favorable living conditions in cities and in rural areas is a common concern of public authorities, municipal government, business, community organizations, and ordinary citizens.
