Gazprom requests tax benefits for shelf fields

Gazprom CEO Alexey Miller requested tax benefits worth billions of dollars for the Prirazlomnoye Field at the Pechorskoye Sea and the Kirinskoye Field near Sakhalin in his letter to the Russian government.

The Russian government has a bill to be passed, granting benefits for deposits which will be launched in 2016. Tax rates for complicated fields will be reduced to 10% for 10 years, fields with a medium difficulty level will have a 15% rate for 7 years.

Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin said in April 2012 that oil export fees will be lifted for new shelf projects.

Shelf oil extraction should increase from 13 million tons annually now to 66.2 million tons in 2030. The figures for gas total 57 billion and 230 billion cubic meters respectively.

Rosneft and Gazprom are the only companies developing shelf fields, because they have over 5 years of experience.
